During BMT And Graduation

You will receive your mailing address after you arrive. Under the current local expectation, you will be authorized two very short calls during the first week or two of BMT. These calls are not expected to be opportunities for a normal conversation.

What the calls are for: The MTI will provide information for you to read. You should expect to say hello, read the information, say goodbye, and hang up. The information will normally confirm that you arrived safely and provide details such as your mailing address. Family members should be prepared to listen and write down the information instead of trying to begin a longer conversation.

General rule: The most recent BMT information email, orders, amended orders, and instructions provided during out-processing or training control what applies. This FAQ explains the local process in more detail but does not replace newer written guidance.
