During your brief scripted call, you will provide your family with your mailing address and the instructions for sending mail to you. If the address is written down incorrectly, your family can use the return-address information from the first letter you send home and reply to that mailbox.

Why letters matter: Look for opportunities to stay connected through letters. That connection can provide a sense of normalcy and emotional support while you move through training.

General rule: The most recent BMT information email, orders, amended orders, and instructions provided during out-processing or training control what applies. This FAQ explains the local process in more detail but does not replace newer written guidance.
