During BMT And Graduation
For family travel planning, your family and friends should plan to arrive on Tuesday and stay through Friday. The public graduation events take place on Wednesday and Thursday. Wednesday includes the Airman’s Run and the Coin Ceremony and Retreat. Thursday includes the Graduation Parade.
Graduation day versus departure day: The current official BMT website identifies Thursday as Graduation Day. Friday is normally the departure day, when graduates leave BMT and ship to the next training location shown on their orders. Under the local process described for this FAQ, the trainee’s certificate of completion is expected to be handed to the trainee by the Friday departure. The practical distinction is that Wednesday and Thursday are the ceremony days, Thursday is the official graduation day, and Friday is the final BMT departure and movement day.
